Is there a ‘Foolproof’ plan to end Russia-Ukraine war? Trump sends envoy to Moscow, says ‘I’ll meet Putin only when…’

The US President had previously set a Thursday deadline for Ukraine to accept a proposed peace plan. Trump hopes to meet Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky only if a deal is finalized.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that he has sent his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin next week. Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, might be going to Moscow with Witkoff as well. His 'foolproof' plan to end the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been 'fine-tuned'. The development comes amid reports of progress on a draft proposal to end the conflict.

Trump: "I Look Forward To Meeting President Putin Only When..."

The American President also mentioned that the Secretary of the Army, Dan Driscoll, will meet with the Ukrainians. Meanwhile, he hopes to meet Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky only if a deal is finalized. "Over the past week, my team has made tremendous progress with respect to ending the War between Russia and Ukraine (A War that would have NEVER started if I were President!). Last month 25,000 soldiers died. The original 28-Point Peace Plan, which was drafted by the United States, has been fine-tuned, with additional input from both sides, and there are only a few remaining points of disagreement," Trump wrote on X.

The US President further added, "In the hopes of finalizing this Peace Plan, I have directed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow and, at the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will be meeting with the Ukrainians. I will be briefed on all progress made, along with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. I look forward to hopefully meeting with President Zelenskyy and President Putin soon, but ONLY when the deal to end this War is FINAL or, in its final stages. Thank you for your attention to this very important matter, and let’s all hope that PEACE can be accomplished AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!"

Trump On 'Thanksgiving Deadline'

The US President had previously set a Thursday deadline for Ukraine to accept a proposed peace plan. On 'Thanksgiving Deadline' during a Press Gaggle on Air Force One, Trump said, "We’ll see what happens. They set up a date. The date is going to be sometime in the very near future...I don’t have a deadline. The only deadline for me is when it’s over. And I think everybody is tired of fighting at this point. They are losing too many people."

Trump further stated that Russia has agreed to some steps. "Well, they're making concessions. Their big concession is that they stop fighting and they don't take any more land again." On Kushner accompanying Witkoff, Trump said that he is not sure about Jared going, but he's involved in the process.

US-Drafted Peace Plan

The original US-drafted peace plan includes several ideas previously rejected in past rounds of negotiations. It urges Ukraine to accept limits on the size of its armed forces, abandon its bid to join NATO, and cede some territory - all long-standing demands made by Russia as President Vladimir Putin seeks to secure maximum concessions.

The proposal also calls on Kyiv to surrender key parts of the Donbas region that Russia claims to have annexed but does not fully control. The region includes a fortified belt of cities and towns central to Ukraine's defence strategy. (With ANI Inputs)
