According to the reports, Israel has asked its soldiers to prepare for a possible ground operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said, “You hear the jets overhead; we have been striking all day. This is both to prepare the ground for your possible entry and to continue degrading Hezbollah.”

Israel has launched several military attacks on Hezbollah targets and the Military was quoted saying that it has hit over 2000 Hezbollah targets in airstrikes in past three days.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Hezbollah is using civilians of Lebanon as human shields. He wrote on X, “I say to the people of Lebanon: Our war is not with you, our war is with Hezbollah. Nasrallah is leading you to the edge of the abyss. I told you yesterday to leave the houses where you have rockets in the living room and shells in the parking lot. Whoever has rockets in the living room and shells in the parking lot – will not have a home.”

Asserting Israel’s stand on the conflict, PM Benjamin Netanyahu in a video message said, “We will continue to hit Hezbollah. He who has a rocket in his living room will not have a home.” He vowed that Israel’s military operation against Hezbollah won’t stop. Israel has been giving warning to Hezbollah.

According to a joint statement released by the United States, Australia, Canada, European Union, France, Italy, Germany and other allies, it said, “The situation between Lebanon and Israel since October 8th, 2023 is intolerable and presents an unacceptable risk of a broader regional escalation.”

“Thus we call for an immediate 21 day ceasefire across the Lebanon-Israel border to provide space for diplomacy towards the conclusion of a diplomatic settlement,” the statement read.

It has called on the Israel and Lebanon governments to call a temporary ceasefire.
