Aleema Khan, the sister of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has once again criticised the country’s new Chief of Defence Forces(CDF), Asim Munir. She claimed that Munir wants to push Pakistan into a war with India and explained why she believes so. In an interview, she made these comments while speaking about the tense situation between the two countries. According to her, Munir is a hardline Islamist whose views drive him toward confrontation with India.
“He wants war with India”
Aleema Khan made this revelation on Sky News’ program “The World with Yalda Hakim,”Alima said, “Asim Munir is a very radical Islamist. That’s why he wants war with India. His Islamic fundamentalism forces him to fight against those who don’t believe in Islam.”

Alima said her brother Imran Khan is a complete liberal. She said that whenever Imran Khan was in power, he tried to improve relations with India and the BJP. But she claimed that when someone like Asim Munir, whom she called a radical Islamist, comes to power, tensions with India rise and even India’s allies are affected.
Imran Khan in Jail
Imran Khan has been in jail for two years. He has been in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since August 2023 and is facing several cases. Recently, there were reports that he was being mistreated in jail and even rumours about his death circulated. On Tuesday, the Pakistani government allowed his other sister, Dr Uzma Khanum, to meet him. She met him for 20 minutes in Adiala Jail and later said that Imran Khan was being mentally tortured in jail.
Asim Munir vs Imran Khan
In 2019, Munir wanted to investigate corruption allegations involving Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and people close to her. This reportedly angered Imran Khan, who then removed Munir from his position as ISI chief. The army did not explain why Munir was moved out after only eight months, even though the term was meant to last three years.
