New Delhi: A spine-chilling video is doing rounds on social media in which an Israeli woman is seen having a bandage wraped around her right arm. The video featured a 21-year-old woman who is believed to be an hostage taken during October 7 cross border assault by Hamas.
Military wing of Hamas, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, released the video in which the woman identified herself as Miya Schem who is a resident of Sderot; a small Israeli city near Gaza border. Miya was taken hostage when she was attending the Supernova Sukkot Music Festival on Kibbutz Re’im.
As many as 250 were killed during the Hamas attack at the Music Fest while, many like Miya, were captivated. In the video, Miya said that her right arm was operated on for three hours at a hospital and she is being looked after. In the end, she urged the government to take her out of the Hamas’ captivation as she wants to return to her family as soon as possible.
Many in support of Palestine on X advocated the way Hamas treated the prisoners of war (POW).

Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued an statement saying that Hamas was “trying to portray itself as a humane organization, while it is a murderous terrorist organization responsible for the murder and abduction of babies, women, children and elderly.”
Last week, Mia was abducted by Hamas.

Hamas had reportedly taken around 200 people as hostage after launching an attack on Israel. The millitant group captivated hostages whom they will release “when conditions are ripe”. The millitant group has also threatened to kill hostages if Israel launches strike unannounced on civilian targets, reported the Guardian.
Note that over 1,300 people were killed in the attack made by Hamas on Israelis.
