Amid the surging prices of land and property, a man hailing from the United States (US) has bought an apartment on a cruise ship claiming that this is more affordable than buying a house.
As per the Metro, Austin Wells bought a flat on board the MV Narratives, in order to travel the world and work remotely from the ship.
Giving details about the price of the flat on MV Narratives, Wells stated that he spend around $300,000 (Rs 2.5 crore) on a 12-year lease for a studio apartment onboard the mega cruise ship.

The apartment consists of 237 square foot room with a foldaway bed, pantry, desk and separate shower room.
San Diego Wells foresee that living on a cruise ship will be more economical viable than residing in a city apartment. A typical apartment in San Diego, California, would cost him nearly $2,500 (Rs 2,08,984), while a cruise room comes at a price of $2,000 (Rs 1,67,187), saving him $500 (Rs 41,796) every month. Additionally, he also has the option to rent out his flat if he decides to return home or host friends, family aboard for a month.
“The thing that excites me the most is that I won’t have to disrupt my daily routine to explore the world,” Mr. Wells shared with CNBC.
As an employee of Meta’s Reality Labs division, Mr. Wells enjoys a fully remote job. “My working hours will be adjusted to evenings, nights, and early mornings, allowing me to explore cities from midday to afternoon,” he explained. “This is perhaps the first time one can have a standard job and consider living and working from a floating apartment complex.”
