A day after Russia announced that it will continue to supply oil to India at a 5% discount, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong, on Thursday, said that China facilitates the entry of all Indian goods into the Chinese market. On India-China relations, he emphasized that both countries, as major developing nations and important neighbours, are at a critical stage of national rejuvenation.
He further stated that India and China’s friendship benefits Asia. “We are the double engines of economic growth in Asia…India and China’s unity benefits the world at large..India and China have the responsibility to take the lead in promoting an equal and orderly multipolar world,” Xu Feihong said.

Commenting on the current state of bilateral ties between the neighbouring countries, Xu Feihong stated that India and China are partners, not rivals, and that they should manage differences through dialogue. Meanwhile, he termed the United States a “bully” and firmly opposed Trump’s move to impose tariffs of up to 50% on India.

The Chinese ambassador highlighted the positive steps taken by both countries to encourage people-to-people ties. “China has resumed the visit of Indian pilgrims to the sacred mountain and lake, and India has resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese nationals,” Xu Feihong said.
He also expressed optimism about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to China to attend the SCO Summit. “In the coming days, PM Modi will travel to China to attend the SCO Summit. I believe this visit will give a new impetus to China-India relations,” he said.
