Despite diplomatic changes between Indian and Bangladesh, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma assured that trade connectivity and economic engagement between the two countries will continue. Verma said that this move will strengthen the ties between India and Bangladesh. The assurance came during an interactive session organised by the High Commission of India, Dhaka on Monday. The session was held with leading businesses and business chambers from Bangladesh’s textile sector.
The session was organised in the context of the upcoming Bharat Tex 2025. Bharat Tex 2025 is India’s largest textile event, showcasing the country’s textile products across the entire value chain. It is scheduled to take place in New Delhi form 14-17 February 2025. This event will witness dialogue and bring together major stakeholders from the textile industry under one roof.
Will Bharat Tex 2025 Redefine Bilateral Ties?
Verma, in his remarks also highlighted the importance of the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector in socio-economic development of Bangladesh. Along with it, he mentioned how it also helps in promoting closer supply/value chain linkages between India and Bangladesh.
Furthermore, he emphasized on cooperation between the two countries in the RMG and textile sector. He called the cooperation as a testament to their interdependence and mutual benefit. Verma reinstated that he hopes for large participation from the delegation of Bangladesh in Bharat Tex 2025. He said that the event will give way for new opportunities which includes establishing new supply chain linkages, investment and technology tie-ups across various segments of the textile value chain.
He also expressed hope that trade connectivity and economic engagement between India and Bangladesh will continue to bring the people and businesses of the two countries closer together.
