Islamabad: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has been granted transit bail by the Islamabad High Court. His arrest has been put on hold till August 25.

Imran Khan had filed a bail application in the Islamabad High Court on Sunday after he was booked under a stringent anti-terrorism law.

 

Why was Imran Khan booked?

Imran Khan had targeted government institutions and attacked the police and judiciary at a rally in Islamabad. The police have registered a case against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

Pakistan police accused Imran of threatening the sessions judge and senior officers of Islamabad police. The FIR was registered at the time when Magistrate Ali Javed filed a case under Section 7 of the ATA at Margala Police Station in Islamabad.

 

Imran Khan’s appeal to PTI workers

After this Imran Khan reached the Islamabad High Court. After the FIR was registered, a large police force was deployed outside Imran’s bungalow in Banigala. Along with this, every road leading to his house was also sealed. Party workers had also gathered outside the house. Various measures were taken to keep the situation normal so that the situation does not become tense.

It was being said that Imran Khan was in touch with many of his party workers over the phone. During this time he decided the next step so that he could avoid arrest. The broadcast of Imran Khan’s speeches was already banned by Pakistan’s media organization.

After the PTI rally in Islamabad, a decision was taken to ban the live telecast of Imran Khan’s rally. In the rally, Imran had threatened to register a case against top police officers, a woman judge, the Election Commission and the opposition.
