Following the Operation Sindoor by Indian Armed forces in Pakistan and PoK, several world leaders expressed concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Among the leaders, is United States President Donald Trump. The US President on Wednesday stated that he would offer any possible help to de-escalate tensions along the India-Pakistan border. He stressed that India and Pakistan should work the crisis out, while talking about the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
What Did Trump Say On India-Pak Tensions?
Trump asserted that he knows both the countries very well and would want them to resolve the issue. He added that they can stop now, as both have already engaged in tit-for-tat actions.
“Oh it’s so terrible! My position is I get along with both. I know both very well and I want to see them work it out. I want to see them stop and hopefully they can stop now. They’ve gotten tit for tat, so hopefully they can stop now. But I know we get along with both countries very well. [We have] Good relationships with both. And I want to see it stop,” Trump said.
He further offered his assistance, and stated that he is willing to help if there is anything he could do. “And if I can do anything to help, I will I will be there,” Trump added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump had responded to reports of Indian strikes inside Pakistan. He had stated that development was expected and urged a swift end to the conflict.
“We just heard about it as we were walking through the doors of the Oval. Just heard about it. I guess people knew something was going to happen based on a little bit of the past. They’ve been fighting for a long time. They’ve been fighting for many, many decades. And centuries, actually, if you think about it. I hope it ends very quickly,” Trump added.
In a decisive move to combat terrorism, the Indian Armed Forces have successfully executed “Operation Sindoor,” targeting key terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. This operation was launched in response to the recent heinous attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen, Indian army said in a statement.
The operation involved precision strikes on nine identified sites linked to terrorist outfits, specifically targeting camps associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad. Notable locations affected include Masjid Sobhanullah in Ahmed Pur East Bahawalpur, Kotli in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and Muzaffarabad.
Indian Foreign secretary Vikram Misri on Wednesday briefed media on ‘Operation Sindoor.’ He said India’s actions were measured and non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible. “Our intelligence indicated that further attacks against India are impending. Thus, compulsion, both to deter and prevent and hence earlier this morning, India exercised its right to respond to deter such more cross-border terrorism… Our actions were measured and non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible. They focused on dismantling terrorists’ infrastructure.”
