‘I Stopped Seven Wars, Want To Stop This Too’: Trump On Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Addressing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump expressed hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might eventually work together to find a resolution.

After a high stakes meeting with the Ukrainian President and seven world leaders last week, United States President Donald Trump on Friday made an unusual statement, admitting that resolving the conflict (Russia-Ukraine) is turning out to be the "most difficult."

Addressing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump expressed hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might eventually work together to find a resolution. He acknowledged the strained relationship between the two leaders and suggested that he would prefer they attempt negotiations independently.

“We are going to see if Putin and Zelenskyy will be working together... They don't get along too well for obvious reasons, but we will see and then we will see whether or not I would have to be there. I would rather have them meet to see how they can do it. But in the meantime, they continue to fight and they continue to kill people, which is very stupid,” Trump said.

Interestingly, Trump reiterated his track record of conflict resolution, stating that he has stopped seven wars. He expressed interest in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict, while admitting that reaching consensus on this one has turned to be the “most difficult.”

“I have stopped seven wars. I would like to stop this one also, but it is turning out to be the most difficult,” Trump added.

Trump Hints At Letting Ukraine ‘Fight Back’

Earlier, Trump on Thursday, hinted at allowing Ukraine to “fight back” against Russia, marking a departure from his earlier peace stance. He said, “It is very difficult, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking an invading country.”

Anticipating “interesting times ahead,” Trump criticised Joe Biden for not allowing Ukraine to “fight back” against Russia. He called the former US President “grossly incompetent” for his action, reiterating that the war would never have happened if he was the President.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “It is very hard, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking an invader’s country. It’s like a great team in sports that has a fantastic defence, but is not allowed to play offence. There is no chance of winning! It is like that with Ukraine and Russia. Crooked and grossly incompetent Joe Biden would not let Ukraine FIGHT BACK, only DEFEND. How did that work out? Regardless, this is a war that would have NEVER happened if I were President – ZERO CHANCE. Interesting times ahead!!!”
