Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has responded to US President Donald Trump’s remark about Vladimir Putin. In his message, Medvedev has signalled at the possibility of World War III and warned Trump about it. His response came after Trump on Tuesday, stated that Russian President Putin is ‘Playing with fire’ by stalling efforts to finalise a peace agreement with Ukraine. Trump went on to say that it is him, who has averted many big things from happening in Russia. Through this, he tried to assert that the US has the upper hand in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and that he has shielded Moscow from major damages.
Ex-Russian President Warns Of World War III
Trump’s comment has not been well received by leaders in Russia, with former President Medvedev choosing to counter it. Medvedev firmly stated that he only knows of one real bad thing and that is World War III. He has expressed hope that Trump understands what he is trying to communicate.
Medvedev wrote on X, “Regarding Trump’s words about Putin “playing with fire” and “really bad things” happening to Russia. I only know of one REALLY BAD thing — WWIII. I hope Trump understands this!”
What Had Trump Said?
Notably, in a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated, “What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire.” Well, the US President didn’t specify what bad things would have happened to Russia, but he did remark that Putin is ‘playing with fire.’ He indicated that Putin is indulging in a situation that might backfire and have negative consequences.
His latest statement follows his earlier remark where he stated ‘Putin is going absolutely crazy’ and needlessly killing people in Ukraine, including civilians. Trump said, “I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!”
While, Trump has not mentioned WWIII directly in any of his statements, the developments following his comment raise a question– Will WWIII Really Take Place?
