In a harrowing case in Avignon, France, Dominique P., a 71-year-old retired EDF employee, and 50 other men are on trial for the rape of his wife, Husband drugged her and made her unconscious during the attacks. The trial, which started on Monday and is expected to last until December, revolves around accusations that Dominique P. managed a decade-long campaign of sexual abuse. Over the ten years, he allegedly used an online platform to recruit 72 men to assault his wife, who only discovered the abuse in 2020.

Online Platforms To Recruit

The trial centers around Dominique P., who allegedly used online platforms to recruit strangers to sexually assault his wife, starting in 2011. The abuse continued until 2020 when police discovered the horrifying evidence. Dominique P. is accused of drugging his wife with powerful sedatives, such as Temesta, to keep her unconscious during the assaults. The charges against him and his co-defendants include total 92 rapes involving 72 men, 51 of whom have been formally identified.

The rapists include individuals from various walks of life, including a forklift driver, a fire brigade officer, a company executive, and a journalist. Despite the varied backgrounds, all were reportedly recruited by Dominique P. through a now-defunct website, coco.fr. The men were instructed to commit the crimes while adhering to strict rules to avoid detection, such as not leaving behind any evidence.

Husband Cruel Actions And Charges Revealed

Dominique P. himself participated in the rapes and filmed the assaults, using degrading language to encourage the other men. The abuse was meticulously planned to ensure that his wife remained unaware of the violations she suffered. According to prosecutors, no money changed hands in these transactions, as the acts were not financially motivated but driven by Dominique P.’s perverse desires.

The victim, now in her 70s, discovered the abuse only in 2020 and has chosen not to have the trial held behind closed doors, despite the intense personal trauma it entails. Her decision to face her attackers publicly reflects her determination to seek justice despite the profound impact on her mental health.

Dominique P. has also faced additional charges, including a 1991 murder and rape, which he denies, and an attempted rape in 1999, to which he has confessed after DNA evidence confirmed his involvement. Psychiatric evaluations during the investigation have labeled Dominique P. as a manipulative individual with a “perverse” personality, describing him as a ‘patriarch’ who used his wife as a ‘bait.’
