Hawaii forest fire: The death toll due to a devastating forest fire in Hawaii has reached 67, ANI quoted citing a CNN report.
In an official statement, the government informed, “The fire in Lahaina is not yet contained.” Earlier, Governor Josh Green said that a total of 59 people have died from the wildfires on the island of Maui in Hawaii.
In an interview with CNN, Green informed that not any deaths were reported in buildings, all died in the open while trying to escape the fire. He speculated that the fatalities could increase.
Hawaii’s Governor directed officials to have a comprehensive review of the state’s actions in the hours after the wildfires erupted earlier this week. He also ordered to review why warning sirens were not used to alert people on Maui.
“I administrated a comprehensive review this morning, to ascertain the reason.”
He further informed that the telecommunication services are destroyed in the area and other essential services are also impacted. The rescue operation is going on the reason.
