In a shocking incident in US’ Pittsburgh, another Indian origin businessman was reportedly shot dead at point-blank range after he stepped outside to check on an argument that was going on in the parking lot of a Robinson Township motel. Fifty-year-old Rakesh Ehagaban who was woking as motel manager died at the spot on Friday.
The accused has been identified as 37-year-old Stanley Eugene West and has been charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and recklessly endangering another person.
What happened at Motel Parking?
Police said that West shot Ehagaban when he asked, “Are you alright, bud?” Surveillance footage showed West walking toward Ehagaban, and when he got very close, he shot him in the head. West was later injured in an encounter with police on Friday. According to officers, West fired at them and hit a Pittsburgh detective in the leg, and the officers returned fire, hitting West several times. Ehagaban had gone outside to check the situation after West shot a woman outside the motel following an argument. When Ehagaban arrived, the suspect shot him in the head, killing him, said Allegheny County Superintendent Christopher Kearns. The woman was rushed to the hospital and was listed in critical condition as per the last update.

According to the police, the suspect, Stanley, had been staying at the Pittsburgh motel with a woman and a child for about two weeks. He also has an address on Page Street in Pittsburgh’s northern part. The shooting occurred shortly after Stanley allegedly shot his female companion in the motel parking lot. Western media reported that the investigating officials said that the woman was sitting in her black sedan with a child when the attacker approached and shot her in the neck. The injured woman managed to reach Auto Service Center nearby around 1 p.m. (local time), where police rescued her. The woman was hospitalised in critical condition. Officials said the child in the back seat was not injured.

The word “motor” is derived from the word “hotel.” Motels are typically located along roads or highways, providing convenient accommodation for travelers. They offer rooms, parking, and basic amenities such as beds, bathrooms, and sometimes a small restaurant.
The most shocking part is that this shooting occurred just weeks after 50-year-old Indian man Chandramouli Nagamallaiah was beheaded in a Dallas motel in front of his wife and son following an argument over a broken washing machine.
