Has Venezuela war started? Trump issues big warning, US fighter jets appear in…, Maduro responds by…

Tensions between the US and Venezuela have escalated as Donald Trump threatens land strikes to curb drug trafficking. Increased American military activity and Venezuela’s sharp response have raised fears of a looming regional conflict.

Tensions between the United States and Venezuela have escalated sharply, raising questions about whether the situation is heading toward a military confrontation. The latest developments have created visible unease across the Caribbean region, where American aircraft and military units have suddenly become more active.

Trump Warns of Ground Strikes

Speaking at the White House on Thursday, December 11, US President Donald Trump once again warned that ground strikes against Venezuela could begin soon. He said the move was necessary to stop the growing flow of narcotics entering the US through land routes linked to Venezuela. Trump has repeated this threat several times in recent weeks, insisting that drug trafficking from Venezuela has become a “national security concern” for the US.

Following his remarks, unusual military activity was noticed in the Caribbean. At the Ponce airfield in Puerto Rico, US Coast Guard helicopters and Marine Corps Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft were seen taking off and landing throughout the day.

US Military Movement Raises Alarm

The uptick in military presence comes after the US Navy and Air Force carried out airstrikes on several boats in the Caribbean earlier this year. The US claimed these boats were part of Venezuelan drug cartels attempting to smuggle narcotics into American territory.

Washington has also designated Venezuela’s “Cartel de los Soles” as a foreign terrorist organization, accusing it of being a deeply embedded drug-trafficking network within the country’s security and political system.

Venezuela President Maduro Calls US Actions ‘Piracy’

Venezuela has strongly condemned the US actions. President Nicolás Maduro recently criticized Washington for seizing a Venezuelan oil tanker, calling the act “maritime piracy.” He accused the US of violating international law and attempting to destabilize Venezuela’s economy.

Maduro’s government believes the increasing US military presence in the Caribbean is an attempt to provoke military confrontation. Venezuela now plans to consider filing a formal complaint at the United Nations Security Council.

Pentagon Says Operation Is Intelligence-Driven

The US Department of Defense has insisted that the latest deployments are part of an intelligence-driven operation aimed at monitoring drug routes. According to US officials, Venezuela’s political instability and economic crisis have made it easier for drug networks to expand operations.

Quick-response units, including Ospreys and Coast Guard aircraft, have been kept on standby for rapid deployment if required.

Venezuela Activates Coastal Radar Systems

In response, the Venezuelan military has increased surveillance along its Caribbean coastline and activated coastal radar systems. Officials in Caracas warn that if the US conducts the threatened land strikes, the situation could quickly spiral into a major regional crisis.

Countries such as Cuba, Bolivia, and Nicaragua have expressed support for Maduro, calling the US actions a threat to regional sovereignty.

Meanwhile, the US State Department maintains that sustained pressure economic and military is essential to restore democracy in Venezuela. With both nations standing firm on their positions, the Caribbean now finds itself at the center of a growing geopolitical standoff that could intensify in the coming days.
