A report claims that during the October 7, 2023, attack, in which at least 1,200 people were killed, some members of Hamas sexually assaulted male Israeli victims. Additionally, secret documents from the Palestinian group allegedly reveal that Hamas tortured and executed its own members who were accused of engaging in same-sex relations. The crimes were reportedly committed with the Israeli men who were held captive by Hamas following the attack as well.
IDF Obtains Secret Documents
According to The New York Post, Secret documents obtained by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and shared with The Post reportedly reveal that Hamas kept records of recruits who failed its “morality checks” due to alleged same-sex relations. These individuals faced harsh punishments, including torture and execution. The documents also suggest that some of these recruits were involved in the sexual assault of male Israeli hostages during and after the October 7 attack.
Reports quoting survivors and officials indicate that Hamas fighters raped Israeli men during the multiple attacks. The men who were held in captive also is said to be brutally raped by the terror group’s gay recruits. A source close to the Israeli Knesset told The Post that Hamas avoided publicising these acts, as such conduct is considered deeply shameful under their religious beliefs.
As per the report, Hamas had a list of recruits who failed to comply with its “morality checks” by engaging in homosexuality – for which they paid a “heavy price”. It says that the “crimes” were allegedly committed by 94 recruits of Hamas between 2012 and 2019.
Allegations Include..
These included charges of lumping together “homosexual conversations, flirting with girls without a legal relationship and sodomy”. The documents also revealed allegations of child rape and torture.
However, it is not clear as to what exactly happened with the recruits or how they were executed which was described as “unacceptable” to Hamas. Homosexuality is illegal in Gaza and can result in years of prison or death.
Hamas Commander Mahmoud Ishtiwi Was Executed
The Post also reports that the former Hamas commander Mahmoud Ishtiwi was executed in 2016 after being accused of engaging in gay sex. The documents reveal that Ishtiwi was tortured for nearly a year before being executed. The religious leaders described his actions as “more heinous than adultery” and calling for his punishment by stoning.
