Everyone was expecting normalcy to return to Gaza after the hostages were released by Hamas and peace was announced. But that was not happening, as Hamas has started killing members of a rival militia.
The firing squad of Hamas killed eight people, according to a Shafaq News report. At least 50 people have been killed, Ynet reported.
The brutal killings took place soon after US President Donald Trump announced in the peace deal that Hamas would take care of its internal security.
Hamas militants have launched a major crackdown on rival militia groups, including the powerful Doghmush clan.
As per Israeli media outlet Ynet, at least 52 members of Doghmush clan were killed in fierce clashes with Hams’ internal security forces. Around 12 Hamas militants were also killed in the battle. Witnesses to the clashes said that the Hamas terrorists were using ambulances to infiltrate the rival militia neighbourhood.
On Monday, Calling the landmark ceasefire agreement a turning point, US President Donald Trump described it as ushering in “a new beginning for an entire, beautiful Middle East.” He celebrated the treaty as an answer to the prayers of millions, declaring that peace in the region had finally been achieved.
“With the historic agreement we’ve just signed, those prayers of millions have finally been answered… Together, we have achieved what everybody said was impossible. At long last, we have peace in the Middle East,” he stated.
Highlighting the scale of the breakthrough, Trump said that beyond ending the war in Gaza, the agreement offers a fresh start for regional stability and unity against terror.
“The momentous breakthrough that we’re here to celebrate tonight is more than the end of the war in Gaza–with God’s help, it will be a new beginning for an entire, beautiful Middle East… we can build a region that’s strong, and stable, and prosperous, and united in rejecting the path of terror once and for all,” he said.
