Indian-origin Democrat Congressman Ro Khanna faced online criticism after he censured US President Donald Trump for imposing a 50% tariff on India. He also accused Trump of destroying the India-US strategic partnership because Modi “refused to nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize.”
The Congressman also urged Indian-Americans to speak up over the issue.

Ro Khanna posted on X, "Trump is destroying 30 years of bipartisan work to build the US-India strategic partnership because Modi refuses to nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize. He imposed higher tariffs of 50% on India than China. Which Indian Americans who voted for Trump are speaking out?"
Several Indians backed him for supporting Modi, but a few trolled him on X.

The other user posted, "Why don’t you go back to India and run for elections there? India’s been raking in benefits from the US for years but barely gives anything back in return."
