US President Donald Trump has often drawn scrutiny for his political statements and public appearances. His latest visit to Washington, D.C., on Friday (August 22) was no exception. He is back at the center of attention, but this time for a minor cosmetic detail. Photos circulating on social media show a visibly large noticeable patch on his hand, which appears to be a foundation in a lighter shade than his skin.
Photos from the event at the People’s House museum have raised concerns about the 79-year-old President’s health. The visible makeup has even fueled an online chatter. Later in the day, as Trump spoke in the Oval Office, he kept his left hand folded over his right hand. However, the makeup was visible again.

In a statement to the Independent on Friday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified, “President Trump is a man of the people, and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other President in history. His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day.”
The latest images of Trump’s hand surfaced weeks after White House physician, Captain Sean Barbabella, admitted that Trump had minor bruising on his hand. He said that the bruising is caused due to a minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin.
Trump’s health has often sparked intense public interest. This is, however, not the first instance when the US President has used makeup on his hand. Earlier in February, a similar patch was spotted when he met French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House. Again, in late July, the makeup was visible when Trump met European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland and then UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Journalist Aaron Rupar pointed out Trump’s hand in a post on X with two pictures. He wrote, “Both of these photos of Trump‘s hand were taken today (Getty).”
