Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has advised his younger brother and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif not to take any aggressive approach against India while asking him to explore all diplomatic channels to de-escalate the tension between the two nations. Tension heightened between India and Pakistan after terrorists opened fire at tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen while leaving several others injured.
Shehbaz Sharif briefed Nawaz Sharif
According to IANS, the two brothers met in Lahore on April 27. During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif briefed Nawaz Sharif on the decisions he had taken in response to India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. Sources told IANS that Shehbaz also told Nawaz about the Army’s preparedness and steps to close air space for India.

They further added that Shehbaz informed his brother that the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty has increased tension and it has become a war-like situation.
Use all diplomatic channels to ease tension
Nawaz Sharif has suggested that he use all diplomatic channels to ease tension instead of showing any aggression.
On the other hand, Pak defence minister Khawaja Asif urged India to form an international commission to investigate the Pahalgam Terror Attack. Asif also pitched to include officials of the United States, Britain, Russia, and China.
Protests continue against Pak govt’s canal project on River Indus
The sit-in at Khairpur Baberlo bypass against the canal project on the Indus River in Pakistan entered its 11th day on Monday, disrupting traffic between Sindh and Punjab. Meanwhile, the protest at Mangrio Pump near Daharki on the National Highway has continued for the ninth consecutive day, Geo News reported.
Sit-ins were also held at Kamo Shaheed in Obaro and Gola Mor in Kandhkot, disrupting traffic between Sindh and Balochistan. Long queues of vehicles were reported on key routes. The Cholistan Canals issue has become a point of difference between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)- led Sindh government and the Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led federal government.
