Former Nepal PM KP Oli’s Message To Gen-Z Protestors- ‘Your Innocent Faces Are…’

KP Oli had resigned from the Prime Minister's post on September 9, after the unrest escalated into widespread violent.

Nepal Protests: Amid the ongoing protests that have begun to slow down in Nepal, ousted Prime Minister and chairman of CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli, addressed the Gen-Z protestors through a letter. In a written message, Oli expressed sorrow over the violent protests in Nepal that have claimed 30 lives so far. While paying tribute to those killed, Oli alleged that the forces behind the current movement are misleading the youth into destructive activities and that the incidents of arson in government offices are part of well-planned political strategy.

Oli had resigned from the PM post on September 9, after the unrest escalated into widespread violent. He then left Kathmandu by a military helicopter and there had been no news of him since. Now, a statement of KP Oli is being circulated on social media, in which he has addressed the protestors; however, News 24 could not independently verify the authenticity of the post.

What Did Oli Say?

In his letter to Gen Z protestors, Oli appealed for peace and called on all sides to engage in dialogue. “I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident that took place during the protest called by the Gen-Z generation today. While we were confident that our children will peacefully voice their demands, the situation that arose due to the infiltration of the protest by various vested interests has resulted in the tragic loss of lives of citizens,” wrote Oli.

Giving the letter an emotional tone, Oli mentioned that he could not have his own children but desire to be a father never ended. Oli said, “Because of the hardships inflicted by the state during the struggle for change, I could not have children, but the desire to be a father never died.” He recalled his tenure as Home Minister in 1994, emphasizing that under his administration, no bullets were fired, and reiterated his commitment to peace.

He has further accused the forces behind the protests of exploiting young demonstrators to carry out destructive activities in Nepal. He stated in his letter, “The arson and vandalism at key government offices did not happen suddenly. Your innocent faces are being used for politics of deception.”

Where Is Oli?

Oli claimed that he is in Nepal’s Shivapuri under a secure military cordon. Earlier, there were speculations that Oli had fled the country, with rumours suggesting him leaving to Dubai.
