Ukraine is in no mood to spare Russian facilities, as its drones targeted the Orenburg gas processing plant. Fortunately, no employees were injured in the incident.
According to a report published by India Today, the region’s governor, Yevgeny Solntsev, said on his official Telegram channel that a fire broke out at the plant after it was hit by Ukrainian drones, and emergency services were pressed into action.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Russia’s Samara region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, said that the Russian military was giving a befitting reply to the attacks. As a precautionary measure, mobile and internet services were temporarily suspended.
Earlier, Ukraine had targeted an oil refinery in the Samara region.
The Orenburg gas complex, which includes Gazprom’s production and processing facilities, was reportedly hit in the attack.
Amid this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also offered to supply energy while pitching to replace Russian sources in Europe. He said that Ukraine is ready to provide as much gas and oil as needed to substitute Russian supplies, adding that the country has the necessary infrastructure and potential to contribute to Europe’s energy independence.
Zelenskyy wrote on X, “”There should be zero Russian energy in Europe. The signals from America are clear—they are ready to supply as much gas and oil as needed to replace Russian supplies. Our region has the necessary infrastructure and potential to contribute to Europe’s energy independence way more.”
