The United States has long claimed its F-35 stealth fighter jet to be the best in the world, but a recent incident at an Alaska base raises questions about these claims. Defence experts have suggested that India consider purchasing the jets, but concerns about their efficiency are now being highlighted, especially following the crash at the Alaska base. A video of the incident is currently circulating on social media.
The incident took place on the runway at Eielson Air Force Base. “The pilot is safe and has been transported to Bassett Army Hospital for further evaluation,” the US Air Force said in a statement.
A video of the incident shows the jet plummeting sharply to the ground before bursting into flames. The F-35 is widely regarded as one of the most powerful stealth jets.

“Our people are our most important resource, and we are committed to ensuring their safety and security,” said Colonel Paul Townsend, commander of the 354th Fighter Wing. “I can assure you the United States Air Force will conduct a thorough investigation into this incident to minimize the chances of such occurrences from happening again.”
This wasn’t the first incident of an F-35 crash. Earlier, a similar crash occurred in New Mexico, further supporting the concerns of experts who have highlighted several shortcomings in the highly touted American stealth fighter jets.
