But the New York Times reported that one of the nation’s ‘Doomsday planes’ landed at St Andrew’s Air Force Base. The E-4B Nightwatch is designed to protect top security officials like the US Defence Secretary and others during a nuclear war.

According to the NYT, the aircraft took off from Bossier City, Louisiana, and landed in Maryland.

What is a ‘doomsday plane’? 

A “doomsday plane” is operated by the US Air Force and it serves as the National Airborne Operations Centre (NAOC). The plane is used as an airborne command centre for the US President, defence secretaries, and other top Armed Forces officials to use for command and communications during emergency conditions.

These planes are capable of resisting any nuclear explosions, cyberattacks, and missiles. It can carry 112 crew at a time and it has a range of over 7000 miles.

Trump expressed frustration over Iran’s decision not to make a deal, stating, “They should have made the deal. I had a great deal for them.” Trump mentioned that Iran wanted to meet and come to the White House, but his tone suggests uncertainty about the outcome.

He reflected on past negotiations, expressed regret over Iran’s missed opportunity to strike a deal, and hinted at the possibility of renewed talks.

Trump also underscored the severity of the current crisis, mentioning ongoing meetings and the broader impact of the conflict.
