A former CIA officer, Brian Jeffrey Raymond, accused of drugging and sexually abusing more than two dozen women of various countries has been sentenced to 30 years of prison by US District Court. Raymond had pleaded guilty to sexual abuse, abusive sexual contact, coercion and enticement, and transportation of obscene material in November 2023 to a federal court.
Raymond, 48-year-old was charged of drugging and sexually abusing several women in multiple countries from 2006 to 2020. According to the prosecutors, he photographed and recorded video of women after making them unconscious. Several nude photographs of at least 28 women were recovered from his electronic devices.
He was arrested in Mexico City after a woman was found screaming for help from his balcony. The neighbours called the police and their investigation exposed Raymond’s activities.
The federal court in their prosecution last year described Raymond as an “experienced sexual predator”. The prosecutors said that he would connect with women in dating apps and later invite them for drinks in his apartment. According to the reports, he worked at U.S. Embassy in Mexico from 2018 to 2020 and traveled extensively for work and leisure.
The CIA has publicly condemned his crimes and ensured to implement reforms to keep women safe. U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves said, “After drugging these women, he stripped, sexually abused, and photographed them. Today’s sentence ensures that the defendant will be properly marked as a sex offender for life, and he will spend a substantial portion of the rest of his life behind bars.”
CPI-M leader Subhashini Ali also reacted on the court’s judgement. She tweeted, “One more aspect of CIA barbarity. Ex CIA Officer Who Drugged, Sexually Abused Women Jailed For 30 Years”.
