In a surprising announcement, SpaceX Founder and CEO Elon Musk on Thursday, revealed the end of his tenure as a Special Government Employee. He thanked United States President Donald Trump for the opportunity. In an X post, he firmly stated that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) mission will strengthen over time. With this, it is clear the he has exited Trump’s administration. He added that the mission as it progresses further, will become a way of life throughout the government.
Musk wrote on X, “As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

Notably, he was appointed as a "special government employee," a designation that permits individuals to serve in a federal role for up to 130 days per calendar year.
Musk Criticised Trump's Plan?
Earlier on Tuesday, Musk had expressed disappointment and criticised a key part of Trump’s legislative plan.
