Geologists said that strong tremors were felt in many areas including the capital Manila. However, no loss of life or property was reported in these aftershocks.
According to reports, the epicenter of the earthquake was about 11 km east-south of the city of Dolores in Abra province. The tremors were felt for 30 seconds or more, news agency Reuters was quoted as saying.
After the tremors, people came out of their homes.
The transport ministry of the Philippines said that strong tremors were also felt in Manila. The metro rail system was stopped after the earthquake. The Senate building in the capital has also been evacuated.
