Earthquake Of 5.2 Magnitude Jolts Turkey

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck central Turkey on May 15, 2025, with the epicenter located near the Kulu district in Konya province.

A magnitude-5.2 earthquake hit the city of Konya, Turkey, on Thursday (May 15). The shakes rippled through Ankara, where President Zelensky of Ukraine is right now. Reports sent so far indicate no injuries or damage. Authorities are monitoring the situation.

In April, a 5.2 magnitude quake rattled Istanbul and elsewhere in Turkey, causing panic and resulting in a large number of injuries in the city of 16 million people. Fortunately, there were no reports of serious damage.

According to AP, at least 236 people were treated for injuries while trying to jump off of buildings or for panic attacks most occurred in Istanbul, which is considered at very high risk for a significant earthquake.

The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers (around 6 miles), as reported by the United States Geological Survey and had an epicenter around 40 kilometers (25 miles) southwest of Istanbul, in the Sea of Marmara.
