US President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that his administration would be issuing checks worth $1,776 to American military servicemen this Christmas in honour of the nation’s founding. This one-time “warrior dividend” will go out to more than 1.45 million army personnel, the American President said in his address to the nation on Wednesday.
“Because of tariffs, along with the just passed one big beautiful bill, tonight, I am also proud to announce that more than 1,450,000 military service members will receive a special warrior dividend before Christmas. In honour of our nation’s founding in 1776, we are sending every soldier 1,776 dollars,” Trump said.

“We made a lot more money…” Trump
Trump credited tariff policies for driving money to the United States, although he did not directly mention whether the levies collected from other nations would fund the payments of the army servicemen. “We made a lot more money than anybody thought because of tariffs, and the bill helped us along. Nobody deserves it more than our military, and I say congratulations to everybody,” Trump said.
What is Warrior Dividend?
The White House described the warrior dividend as a one-time bonus. It does not mark a permanent change in the military pay or benefits and is a part of Trump’s administration’s support for the armed forces.
When will it come?
The US President announced that the stimulus cheques are “already on the way” and will be credited to the accounts of the US military personnel before Christmas. The payments are likely to be made by Direct Bank Transfer on or before December 25, 2025.
Eligibility
Active-duty and reserve service members ranked O-6 or below, with active-duty orders for about 31 days as of November 30, 2025, are eligible.
Trump’s opening remarks
In his opening remarks in a rare evening address before the beginning of the holiday season, the Republican leader said, “Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it.” Meanwhile, he highlighted the achievements made by his administration since he assumed office for the second time as US president earlier this year.
