According to a report by The New York Times, former US President Donald Trump has been in a “foul mood” over the past few weeks and has privately called Vice President Kamala Harris a “b**” multiple times. The report is based on two sources who say they heard Trump make these remarks on different occasions.
Trump’s campaign spokesperson, Steven Cheung, denied the allegations, saying, “President Trump does not use that kind of language about Kamala Harris, and the campaign would not describe her that way.”
Trump’s Controversial Remarks: Past Insults Resurface Amidst New Criticisms
Trump said, “If you ask people what her last name is, nobody knows. Harris. It’s like Harris.” Besides these recent comments, Trump has faced criticism for past remarks. In the 2005 Access Hollywood tape, he made crude comments about women, including saying he would move on a woman “like a bitch.” He also wished for Condoleezza Rice to be “a bitch” in a 2006 interview, showing a pattern of using such language.
Reports say that while he was president, Trump referred to then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel as “that bitch” during NATO discussions. He has used derogatory terms not only for women but also for men he disagrees with, calling them “sons of bitches.” These comments have resurfaced as Trump continues to criticize Kamala Harris, calling her “pathetic” and claiming she can’t handle a news conference. He has also called her a “nasty person” in recent interviews, ramping up his rhetoric as the 2024 presidential campaign heats up.
Kamala Harris Maintains Marginal Lead Over Donald Trump In Latest Polls
This controversy arises as Harris has a narrow one-percentage-point lead over Trump in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll. The poll, completed on Sunday, shows Harris with 43% support from registered voters, while Trump has 42%. The gap has narrowed compared to the final weeks of President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign.
Last week’s poll had Harris leading Trump 44%-42%. Over the past 10 days, Harris strengthened her position as the Democratic candidate after Biden, 81, dropped out of the race due to pressure from his party. Since then, Harris has gained more donations and endorsements, and voters have started to view her more favorably.
