Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden condemned the attack on his Republican rival and former president, Donald Trump.

“I have been updated on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m glad to hear he is safe and doing well. I’m praying for him, his family, and everyone at the rally as we wait for more information,” Biden said in a statement.

“Jill and I appreciate the Secret Service for keeping him safe. Such violence has no place in America.” We must come together as one nation to condemn it,” he said.
