US President Donald Trump is targeting Ukraine’s rare earth minerals and asked Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to provide rich minerals in exchange for financial aid. Trump’s remarks came amid the superpower is all set to send an envoy to Ukraine to discuss a proposal to end the ongoing war with Russia.
While talking to Fox News, the US President said he made it clear to Ukraine that the US wants all its money back, and they want the equivalent, like $500 billion of Rare Earth. He claimed that Ukraine initially agreed to it.
The US President also said Ukraine” may be Russian someday” or “may not be Russian someday” while speaking about the fate of the Ukraine-Russia war. Trump hinted at a quick resolution to the war but did not detail much about the negotiations.
On the other hand, Zelenskyy is cautious and wrote on X that Ukraine is open to partnership but he cannot simply hand over the nation’s resources. Zelenskyy said, “I spoke with Reuters about Ukraine’s strategic resources and our cooperation with the U.S. Ukraine is open to partnerships, but our resources are not something we simply hand over—even to our closest allies. Strategic cooperation must be mutually beneficial.”
“There is also something that only Ukraine can offer—the world’s most advanced wartime experience with drone warfare and modern battlefield technology. The U.S. does not have this experience. No country does. The largest drone war is happening here, in Ukraine,” He said on X.
