New Delhi: In a shocking incident, Jesus Alberto Lopez Ortiz, a 29-year-old soccer player was killed after being attacked by a crocodile in the river.
According to the Spanish outlet Marca, it is unclear whether he drowned or succumbed to animal pressure during the attack. the tragic incident took place in the Canvas River after Ortiz jumped over a fishing bridge.
As per the report, he was exercising at the moment and jumped over despite he was being aware of crocodiles in the water.
Witnesses around there were frightened as they watched the deadly scene. Some of them captured the incident and posted it on Facebook as well. In the Video, the animal sweeping with Footballer’s body across the river can be seen clearly.
The incident took place near Santa Cruz town in Guanacaste province of Costa Rica.
Ortiz was an active member of Deportivo Rio Canas, a local football club. He had represented the club in the Costa Rican Ascenso League. The team has also confirmed the death of his team member through a Facebook post.
The Meca report further said that to retrieve the player’s remains, the police had to use firearms to shoot the animal.
