The Mayor of Bogota, Carlos Galan confirmed that Uribe was receiving emergency medical attention after the attack. He added that the "entire hospital network" of the Colombian capital was on alert in case he needed to be transferred. Galan confirmed that the suspected attacker has been arrested and investigation is underway. According to reports from the Colombian media, he is in critical condition.

Colombian Government Condemns The Attack
Furthermore, the Colombian government has shared a statement condemning the Saturday attack on Uribe. A post from Presidencia Colombia on X, read as: “The National Government categorically and forcefully rejects the attack that the Senator of the Republic, Miguel Uribe Turbay, was the victim of in recent hours.” The Colombian government stated that this is more than an attack on senator, calling it an assault on democracy, freedom of thought, and the legitimate exercise of politics in Colombia.
The government has expressed its solidarity with Senator Uribe Turbey’s family and team. Authorities have been urged to conduct the necessary investigation and prosecute those responsible for this attack.
39-year old, Miguel Uribe Turbay is a Colombian politician and serving as a member of the Senate since 2022. He is the son of Journalist Diana Turbay and the grandson of Julio Cesar Turbay Ayala.
