As the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s assassination intensifies, The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released new video of the suspected shooter. In the video, the suspect is seen fleeing the crime scene after a single bullet pierced through the conservative activist’s neck. He can be seen running across a rooftop, dropping over the edge, and entering a wooded area on the Utah Valley University campus after the shooting. The FBI and Utah Department of Public Safety held a press briefing on Kirk’s killing on Thursday.
Beau Mason, Commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, shared video and images of the suspect, seeking help from the public in identifying him. “Around 12 p.m. Mountain Time on September 10, 2025, the subject climbed up to a rooftop; after he shot and killed Charlie Kirk, he jumped off and ran away. He left a gun and ammunition in a wooded area near the university,” read FBI’s official statement.

The FBI Salt Lake City field office has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying a person of interest in connection with the case. In a post on X, the bureau wrote, “We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.” Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation.
FBI monitoring closely, Says director Kash Patel
Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the agency is closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation,” stated Patel in an X post.
US President Donald Trump’s close ally, activist and youth leader, Kirk was shot about 20 minutes after he began speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem on Wednesday. The university initially said someone had been taken into custody, but investigators later confirmed that the person was not the shooter. Videos from the event showed people running and one clip showed Kirk’s head snap back as blood poured from his back. He had been speaking under a tent with the slogan “The American Comeback.”
