A 100-year-old temple has reportedly been seized by land mafias in Pakistan’s Sindh province. The temple is located in Tando Jam town in Hyderabad district. The temple’s land has been seized by land mafias in the past few days. Construction work has also started on the land. A Hindu man, Shiva Kachhi, has shared the information through a video.
A chief representative of the Hindu organisation of Pakistan, Derawar Ittehad (PDI), highlighted the issue by posting a video on social media. Shiv Kachhi said the Shiva temple is a century-old, and illegal construction work has been started on the temple land.
Kachhi stated that a committee is responsible for maintaining the four-acre premises of the Shiva Temple, which is 185 kilometres from Karachi. He said the Department of Cultural Heritage of Sindh has renovated the temple.
The land surrounding the more than 100-year-old temple of Shu Mandir Shivalu in Musa Katian near Tando Jam has been occupied. The influential builder mafia has started construction work and the entrances to the temple have been blocked.

A crematorium has been constructed near the temple for the Hindu community. Kachhi said devotees visit the temple each Monday and offer prayers. He added, “The land mafias have seized the land and started illegal construction on it.”
Kachhi urged the government of Pakistan to direct authorities to prevent illegal construction on the temple premises. He said there are several historic temples in Sindh and the government must ensure their security.
