People in Canada were angered after an Indian influencer shared a video suggesting that Indians have their babies in Canada to obtain Canadian permanent residency (PR) on humanitarian grounds.
While explaining in Hindi, the YouTuber said it could be the last option if all other routes to permanent residency in Canada are closed. He advised that it is a fool proof route and one can opt for it after taking legal consultation, reported by the TOI.
In an undated video, the influencer also asked viewers to comment ‘baby’ to get more information.
The video upset Canadians, who were concerned about strategies being drawn to gain permanent residency in their country.
A Canadian user wrote, “The parasite class is now promoting having a baby in Canada as a way to get Permanent Residence. Liberal’s Bill C-3 will turn this into chain mass citizenship handouts. We need every loophole closed and mass deportation immediately.”

What is Humanitarian PR, and who is entitled to get it?
If a couple is living in Canada and does not qualify for permanent residency but has a Canadian citizen child, they may be allowed to stay through this pathway in special circumstances. They can mention that their child is Canadian and that they cannot leave the country. However, this does not mean that the parents of a Canadian citizen child automatically get PR, despite the child being a Canadian citizen. For Canadian PR, parents must become eligible through Express Entry (skilled workers), family sponsorship, or via a study or work permit.
