Canada Election 2025: Canadians head to the polls on Monday, 28th April, for federal elections. The dramatic polls will decide the country’s next government amid Donald Trump’s unpredictable global tariff policies. The elections are happening after months of uncertainty and escalating tensions with the United States. As voters cast their ballots, Liberal Party leader PM Mark Carney and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre are locked in a neck-and-neck battle.
The voting will decide whether Carney will hold the reins or Poilievre will mark his return to the office after nearly a decade. The liberals and conservatives’ five-week election campaign concluded on Sunday after the respective party leaders pitched to voters. The voting in Canada’s election begins today, and the first set of poll results is expected at 4.30 am on April 29.
Who’s Running?
Three major parties are locked in a tight contest this time- the Liberal Party (incumbent), the Conservative Party, and the New Democratic Party (NDP). NDP, led by Jagmeet Singh’s has the least chance in the elections. It remains to be seen if the tragedy at Canada’s Vancouver Filipino festival on Sunday in Vancouver would play any role in the federal elections.
During these elections, voters had the option to vote on election day, during advance voting, by mail and at any Canadian election office. The Canadian elections come after at a crucial time in the country’s politics, especially after Justin Trudeau’s surprising exit.

Today, Voters can cast their ballots at polling stations from 9 am to 9 pm (local time). Voters must consult their VI card or visit the Elections Canada website to locate their designated polling booth.
