Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso): There has been a major attack in Burkina Faso, West Africa. At least 35 people have been killed in an IED blast here while more than 37 people have been injured.
A convoy carrying several people in the Sahel area of Burkina Faso was hit by an IED planted by insurgents on Monday.
Sahel region governor Rodolphe Sorgho said in a statement that one of the vehicles carrying civilians hit an IED, killing at least 35 civilians and injuring 37 others.
Burkina Faso, a landlocked African country, has been in the grip of rebellion since last year, in which more than two thousand people have died so far and about 19 lakh people have been forced to leave their homes.
The fighting is taking place in the north and east of Burkina Faso, led by jihadists suspected of having links with al-Qaeda or the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist groups.
