The White House on Saturday said that the issues were very much on the agenda, when asked regarding bulldozing the slums in the national capital ahead of the G20 summit in Delhi. It also stated that this issue was discussed in the bilateral meeting of the Unites States President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Reports have previously indicated that authorities in Delhi have initiated clearance operations in several slum areas, including Janta Camp. According to a Reuters report, these demolitions commenced approximately four months ago.

The same Reuters report also noted that authorities had taken action to round up hundreds of stray dogs that usually roam the streets of the national capital. These dogs were relocated to shelters in preparation for the G20 summit, as highlighted by animal activists.
The G20 summit, which marks the largest-ever assembly of world leaders in New Delhi, has drawn the participation of prominent figures including US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, among others.
