Washington: Former US President Donald Trump, his three eldest children and the Trump Organization were sued for fraud on Wednesday by New York state’s attorney general.
Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit of more than 200 pages in connection with her years long civil investigation into Trump’s business practices.
The lawsuit, filed in a New York state court in Manhattan, accused the Trump Organization of engaging in “numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation” in preparing Trump’s annual statements of financial condition from 2011 to 2021, reports news agency Reuters.

The lawsuit also named the Trump Organization, the former president’s son Donald Trump Jr. and his daughter Ivanka Trump as defendants.
According to the lawsuit, the Trump Organization deceived lenders, insurers and tax authorities by inflating the value of his properties using misleading appraisals.
“These acts of fraud and misrepresentation were similar in nature, were committed by upper management at the Trump Organization as part of a common endeavor for each annual Statement, and were approved at the highest levels of the Trump Organization — including by Mr. Trump himself,” the lawsuit states.
