Amid escalating tension between India and Bangladesh Dhaka has asked New Delhi to extradite ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The interim government of Bangladesh stated on Monday that they had issued a diplomatic note to India, requesting them to send the ousted PM Sheikh Hasina back to Dhaka.
As quoted by ANI, Touhid hossain told the reporters, “We have sent a note verbale to India requesting to send Sheikh Hasina back.”
Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been in India since August 5, when she landed in the country amid the protest led by students in Bangladesh.
Hasina On The Interim Government Of Bangladesh
On December 9, Sheikh Hasina made an accusation that the Chief Adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, that he is the mastermind behind the student-led protest due to which she fled from the country. Further allegations were made that the protest was “meticulously designed” to overthrow the government in Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina claimed that, “Yunus himself said that the student protest that started on July 7, 2024, was not student-initiated but a meticulously designed protest to overthrow me…He was the mastermind who started this conspiracy because all the demands were met, and there was no scope for protest, despite there being protests across the nation…It was a meticulous conspiracy.”
She further stated that, “Today Bangladesh is going through a tough time. Under a fascist government, the people of Bangladesh have been deprived of their rights. The whole of Bangladesh is burning…Today, Bangladesh is being destroyed.”
Bangladesh has gone through a lot of difficult situations in the last one and a half years.
