Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has got a contender for the post of Chief of Defence Forces (CDS). Pakistan’s two senior political leaders, President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, already wanted to see Munir on the post.
Now, a big update is coming that Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu has come in Munir’s opposition.

Air Chief Marshal dares Munir
Adil Raja claimed that Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu had not only opposed Munir, but also staked his claim for the post of CDS. It was the reason that Sidhu appeared before PML-N chief and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Sidhu met Sharif and proposed his name for the CDS post, citing that the Air Force plays a key role in war.
Sidhu proposes similar idea to Munir
Interestingly, Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu used the same idea which Munir already applied to become Field Marshal and is now amending the Constitutional law to get the post of CDS. The Air Chief Marshal said that the Pakistan Air Force played a key role in May's clash with India, so he has the right to claim the post.
Strong relations with Nawaz Sharif
Adil Raja claimed that Sidhu had good relations with Nawaz Sharif in the past, and he got a PML-N ticket for his younger brother, who won the election in Punjab. Now, it is a big question whether Sidhu would become CDS or not. However, Sidhu’s dream can only come true if the Constitutional law is amended. Last month’s amendment in the Constitution clearly says that a four-star General will be elevated to the post of CDS.
Pakistan will have to amend the Constitution to make Sidhu the CDS, and it is not a big task once the Army gives its consent. Adil Raja said that talks for amendment are going on, but would Munir pave the way for Sidhu to become the nation's CDS?
