With an aim to electrify the majority of new passenger cars and light trucks fleet by 2032, the Biden administration on Wednesday issued significant climate regulations in the nation’s history.
Notably, the regulations took nearly three years in the making. These new tailpipe pollution limits from the Environmental Protection Agency implemented by the Biden administration will transform the American automobile market.
Last year in 2023, the dealers rolled off a record of 1.2 million electric vehicles, but it just made up only 7.6 percent of total U.S. car sales, which is not even near the 56 percent target under the new regulation. Additionally, as far as hybrid car sales are concerned, an additional 16 percent of new cars were sold.

The single largest form of carbon emission generated in America is from cars and other transportation forms. This pollution is driving climate change, resulting in the crowning year 2023, the hottest in recorded history.
In fight against the global warming, President Biden’s key strategy and weapon is electric vehicles, which calls for cutting the nation’s emissions in half by the end of this decade.
The EVs have also become politicized and are becoming a major issue in the upcoming 2024 presidential election campaign.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Joe Biden announced his ambitious plan for cleaner vehicles. He aims for half of all new cars and trucks sold in 2030 to be emission-free. Progress has been made with new factories, private investments, and job opportunities.
The new rule will gradually reduce pollution from car exhausts. By 2032, over half of new cars sold in the U.S. are expected to be emission-free. This move could prevent over seven billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions over 30 years, equal to a year’s worth of U.S. greenhouse gases.
The EPA predicts almost $100 billion in yearly benefits, including $13 billion from better air quality. These standards could also save the average American driver around $6,000 in fuel and maintenance costs throughout a vehicle’s lifespan.
