According to Iranian military sources, Behnam Shahriari, a senior officer of the IRGC Quds Force, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in western Iran, which took place at night. Shahriari was in charge of Unit 190 of the Quds Force, whose task was to secretly send weapons to Iran-backed organizations, especially Hezbollah.
The Israeli army (IDF) informed that he was targeted while he was traveling in a vehicle, which was more than 1,000 kilometers from Israel. Israeli intelligence agencies had been trying to kill Shahriari since 2009. Unit 190 had long been leading the supply of weapons from Iran to Lebanon-based Hezbollah, Gaza's terrorist organizations, and Yemen's Houthi fighters.
