Bappi Lahiri’s ‘Jimmy, Jimmy’ is new anthem for Chinese against Covid protest!
Beijing (China): The popular song "Jimmy, Jimmy" by Bappi Lahiri from the Mithun Chakraborty-starring film "Disco Dancer" has evolved into a new hymn for Chinese citizens against Covid lockdowns.
On TikTok and other social media sites, several videos of Chinese people experiencing lockdowns utilising Bappi Da's music to vent their rage and fury over the nation's strict zero-COVID policy went viral. The popular Chinese song "Give me rice, give me rice," which was written by Lahiri and performed by Parvati Khan, is translated into Mandarin.
In videos, People are witnessed showing empty vessels to show how they are denied access to necessary food during lockdowns. It can be interpreted as a plea from the people to the government to lift its harsh restrictions.
The nation's ruling Communist Party and its leader Xi Jinping signalled last month that the zero-Covid policy would not be relaxed, referring to it as a "people's struggle to combat the virus' spread."
Recently, 200 lockdowns have been put into place around the nation, with the bulk of these affecting high- or medium-risk regions. Depending on whether they are in a low, medium, or high-risk zone, residents in various places are subject to various laws.
Thousands of migrant workers recently tried to escape the lockout and travel back to their home cities. Images posted online suggest that employees at Apple's largest assembly plant in Zhengzhou managed to escape the buildings during the "zero-COVID" lockdown.
