Bangladesh Unrest:Indian Envoy Summoned Over Breach Of Mission In Agartala

Pranay Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh gets summoned from Bangladesh on Tuesday. This incident took place day after the people protesting breached the premises of Bangladesh acting High Commission which is situated in Agartala.

Pranay Verma had a meeting with the acting Riaz Hamidullah, who is Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh’s interim government. He had this meeting with him to discuss about the bilateral ties and address the incident.

Pranay Verma mentioned that, “We have a wide ranging and multifaceted relationship. You cannot reduce it to one issue. We want to build on the dependencies [between the countries] to mutual benefit,” as reported by The Daily Star

Pranay Verma mentioned that India wants to have a stable relationship with Bangladesh. He also mentioned that, “We have a wide ranging and multifaceted relationship. You cannot reduce it to one issue.”

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma stated that there has been various developments in positive way in both the nations.

The Ministry Of External Affairs’ mentioned in a statement that, “The breach of premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala is deeply regrettable. Diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances.”

They also stated that the, “Government is taking action to step up security arrangements for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and their Deputy/Assistant High Commissions in the country.”

On Monday that is December 2, India made a decision to increase the security arrangements for the high commission for Bangladesh in the national capital.
