Sharif Osman Hadi was a youth leader linked to Inquilab Mancha, a socio-cultural platform formed after the July 2024 revolt. The 32-year-old was also preparing to contest the upcoming national elections.
Why Violence Erupts in Bangladesh ?
Sharif Osman Hadi was shot in the head last Friday while campaigning in Bijoynagar, Dhaka. He was travelling in a rickshaw when a masked attacker, riding on the back of a moving motorcycle, opened fire.
Hadi was critically injured in the attack and was first taken to a local hospital in Bangladesh. He was later airlifted to Singapore for advanced treatment. As reported by Reuters, he remained on life support for six days before dying on Thursday.
Following his death, protests turned violent in many areas, raising serious concerns about law and order in Bangladesh during a sensitive political period.
