Top intelligence sources say the US and UK played a major role in the crisis in Bangladesh, leading to Sheikh Hasina’s resignation. According to sources, David Burgan from the UK, activist Pinaki Bhattacharji, BNP’s Tarique Rehman, and the owners of Netra News were the main coordinators. They led a social media campaign against Hasina, orchestrated army movements, and created false narratives online.
Hasina’s Resistance To Western Influence And Claims Of US Agenda
Hasina was reluctant to support the West. She claimed that the US wanted to turn parts of Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Bengal into a Christian country like East Timor. She also said a “white man” who met her before the January elections promised her everything would be fine and that the only goal was to build an airbase.
Media reports say the US created a false story about Hasina concerning “free and fair elections.” They also imposed sanctions on Bangladesh’s elite RAB for human rights violations and have significant influence within the BNP. Nobel laureate Yunus Hasan, who faces corruption charges in Bangladesh and works as a lobbyist in the US, is also involved. The lobbying by several influential people in the US and Hasina’s refusal to comply with American demands led to the situation’s collapse.
Hasina’s Ties With China And Tarique’s Promise To The West
Another issue was Hasina’s close ties with China, which upset the West. Tarique has promised the West that if he returns to power, he will cut ties with China and align with the West in Bangladesh. Additionally, keeping the region unstable is a strategy to create problems for India, keeping it occupied with issues in Myanmar, Bangladesh, the Maldives, and China.
Reports say that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence also played a major role, working both directly and indirectly for the West.
