The World expressed shock after 28 people lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. The terrorists targeted innocent tourists when they were enjoying themselves with their loved ones in the Baisaran Valley. The eyewitnesses recounted that the terrorists asked for the identity of the victims before killing them. The terror incident has brewed up circumstances between India and Pakistan. Significantly, the incident took place after days when Pakistan’s Chief Of The Army Staff (COAS) threatened India.
The timing of the attack raises concerns
After the attack, discussions have started over India’s next move. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Army chief have reached in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Navbharat Times, Dr. Muqtedar Khan, Professor, University of Delaware, said that the timing of the terror attack is critical as it took place amid US Vice-President JD Vance’s visit to India and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump met in February this year where the two pledged to work together to eliminate terrorism.
Muqtedar Khan said it clearly shows that Pakistan has a connection with the Pahalgam terror incident as Pakistani Chief Asim Munir spoke over two state theories just days before the incident. He said the time has come for Pakistan to open its border and cooperate with India in investigation and provide all help that India seeks from it.
Could a war take place between India and Pakistan?
Professor Khan is of the view that if Pakistan did not cooperate, the Pahalgam terror attack should be considered as an act of war against India. He said this is “International terrorism” and Pakistan must be sidelined by all nations if it does not cooperate with India. Professor Khan called the incident “major” and speculated it could lead to a possible war between the two countries.
